Job overview

We are offering an opportunity for a Radiographer to further develop their skills in a state-of-the-art imaging department, in an expanding service. You will be working as part of a friendly team of Radiographers within CT & MRI, working alongside other rotational staff at Russells Hall Hospital and the Guest Outpatient Centre.

You will be expected to participate fully in the extended day service. This currently includes an early, late, extended day shift patterns, weekends and a CT on Call Service including bank holidays with CT & MRI.

To assist the Principal Radiographers in CT & MRI as required with the day-to-day operational management of the MRI & CT Department, being responsible for the smooth running of the MRI & CT scanning list.

To work without supervision when required, to perform high quality diagnostic examinations in a diverse range of CT & MRI procedures whilst observing all current local rules and legislations.

To train Radiographers, Radiographic Aides, and student radiographers in CT & MRI.

Applicants must hold the Diploma of the College of Radiographers or a Degree in Radiography and be HCPC Registered.

Main duties of the job

To work predominantly in the CT and MRI departments performing high quality diagnostic examinations in a diverse range of specialist procedures.

To participate in any extended day, weekend, and Bank Holiday service provided by CT & MRI, and undertake call duties providing an emergency service outside of the departments normal working hours.

To train Radiographers, Radiographer Aides and student radiographers in CT & MRI.

To assist the CT & MRI Principal Departments as required with the day to day operational management of the Cross Sectional Imaging Departments, being responsible for the smooth running of a CT/MRI scanning list.

To work without supervision when required, to perform high quality diagnostic examinations in a diverse range of CT& MRI procedures whilst observing the current Ionising Radiation Regulations and Local Rules for CT and MRI.

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • HCPC registration
  • Diploma of the College of Radiographers or BSc in Radiography
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate qualification or equivalent in CT or MRI
  • Certificate of Competence in I.V. cannulation (Short Course)
  • Intermediate Life Support (Short course)

Knowledge & Training

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of life support training
  • Evidence of attendance of specialty / short courses in CT or MRI
  • Evidence of I.V. cannulation training & Competency.
  • Evidence of CPD activities
  • Awareness of current issues affecting CT & MRI
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of current issues affecting Radiology and the NHS

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post graduate experience in CT and MRI with a varied workload
  • Previous experience of participation in an emergency CT service, undertaking a wide range of examinations, unsupervised.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of Teaching/mentoring
  • Evidence of working in a Supervisory role
  • Previous experience of working in the NHS as a Radiographer
