An opportunity has arisen for an FY3/4 post within the Department of Medicine at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust. Tenure will be for 12 months. The post holder will work in the Medical Enhanced Care Unit (MECU) & Medical Specialties on normal working days with weekend day time cover 9 am to 5 pm . No night on calls are rotated into this post .
Remuneration for the post would be in line with national terms and conditions of service.
Russell’s Hall Hospital is a 764 bedded District General Hospital with a large Acute medicine and Specialty medicine with 123 medical consultants The hospital is a teaching hospital linked to the University of Birmingham and the Department has an excellent reputation for training. Our Department regularly appears in the top 3 of the Deanery’s undergraduate feedback table for training received and our postgraduate exam pass rate is usually exceptionally high. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to benefit from this established training programme, as well as develop their portfolio of skills.
Normal working day consists of clinical duties from 09:00 to 17:00.
Undertake clinical work in Medical Enhanced care Unit & Medical Specialties ie Stroke Medicine, Endocrine, Renal and Respiratory medicine in a 6 monthly rotation with primary responsibility being MECU. So 2 rotations
MECU & Respiratory (6months), MECU & Stroke ( 6 months ) paired together and the other 2 rotations
MECU & Endocrine a long with MECU & Renal paired together.
At any given time there are 2 MECU junior doctors Monday to Friday and one MECU junior doctor Saturday and Sunday . Work collaboratively with colleagues to further develop and improve the service. Post holder will be part of the EWTD complaint rota. The rota has prospective cover included and therefore it is expected that doctors will cover each other, in respect of annual, study leave and bank holidays, without additional pay.
