Job overview

BAND 5 - THEATRE PRACTITIONER (ANAESTHETIC NURSE OR ODP) - Full and part time positions available

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 ODP's or Registered Nurses with a recognised UK anaesthetic qualification for our suite of operating theatres, and have recently developed a new non-managerial Band 6 clinical role that recognises outstanding skill. All practitioners have an opportunity to undertake training and development that will allow progression towards this role.

We have achieved The Royal College of Anaesthetists with Anaesthesia Clinical Services Accreditation (ACSA). We are the first Trust in the West Midlands to achieve this accolade.

Our latest CQC inspection rated us as 'good'. Do you have the attributes to help us become outstanding?

We are the Specialist Vascular Centre for the Black Country covering Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton and we have a dedicated vascular theatre with close links to the Interventional Radiology suite.  We have become the Midland Orthopaedic Centre and an Endometriosis Centre.

Our Theatres comprise 10 Main theatres, 4 Day Surgery theatres, 2 Obstetric theatres and support to a Minor Procedure Room and Interventional Radiology Unit.  We have a further Day Surgery Theatre and Ward at our satellite site less than 3 miles from the main site.

If you are a dynamic , enthusiastic nurse with the ability to work well within a highly motivated team and can deliver high quality care, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for the care needs of patients within Inpatient and Day Surgery Theatres. He/she will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care and will be expected to demonstrate/ teach registered/unregistered staff and supervise junior staff as applicable to level of competence.

The post holder will participate in maintaining an environment that is conducive to the delivery and maintenance of a high standard of individualised holistic patient care, and to the establishment of good communications and relationships between staff, patients, relatives and visitors.

Working for our organisation

At the Dudley Group our patients and staff are at the heart of all that we do and that is to provide a world class service that aligns with our vision of “excellent health care, improved health for all”. We are seeking to recruit staff who share our vision and values of making Dudley Group an incredible workplace.

We are committed to becoming a diverse and an inclusive employer and where people feel sense of belonging. Seeking to expand diversity within our teams, we positively encourage applications from under-represented groups such as ethnically diverse, disabled and LGBTQ+ groups. We are also under-represented in-terms of gender within nursing roles and we would welcome applications from people from male and non-binary backgrounds.

The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust recognises the values and transferable skills that the Armed Forces community bring and recognise their compatibility with NHS roles.

We are committed to home life balance through flexible working and making reasonable adjustments where possible.
