Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Radiographer to join the CT & NM team to further develop their skills in a state-of-the-art imaging department, in an expanding service. You will be working as part of a friendly team of Radiographers within CT & NM, working alongside rotational staff at Russells Hall Hospital and the Guest Outpatient Centre.

We support advanced practise of nuclear medicine staff in the department as opportunities become available such as advanced practitioner reporting and Radiographer led cardiac stress testing.  You will be actively encouraged and supported to advance your skills.

Our service is due to expand with additional capability plan. The departments are currently equipped with state-of-the-art scanners.

CT have 2 x 128 Somatom Definition edge Scanners, 1 x 64 Slice Definition AS.

NM Have 2 x Siemens Intevo Bold T16 scanners. Both of these are high specification scanners capable of quantification SPECT, so there is no better time for an aspiring professional to join us.

This exciting opportunity has become available just as the department enters a new phase of development.

You will be expected to participate fully in service of both Nm & CT. This currently includes an early, late, extended day shift patterns, weekends and a CT on Call Service including bank holidays.

Applicants must hold the Diploma of the College of Radiographers or a Degree in Radiography and be HCPC Registered.

Main duties of the job

To work between the CT & Nuclear Medicine departments performing high quality diagnostic examinations in a diverse range of specialist procedures.

The post holder will act as a core team member in the delivery to perform high quality diagnostic examinations in a diverse range of CT & NM procedures whilst observing the current Ionising Radiation Regulations, Local Rules, areas of radiation safety and legislation governing medical exposure.

To work without supervision when required, displaying the skills and expertise required as a high level of autonomy will be expected. To facilitate and be responsible for the smooth running of a CT & NM scanning lists.

To contribute to the overall direction & development of the service and ensure a consistent and reliable diagnostic service is provided to our patients on a day-to-day basis.

The post holder will be expected to meet service needs participating in any extended day, weekend, and Bank Holiday service and undertake on call duties. Staff would also be expected to rotate to all imaging sites as required by service demands. To train Radiographers, Radiographer Aides, Assistant Practitioners, Apprentices and student radiographers in CT & NM and assist the CT Principal Radiographer or NM Modality Lead as required with the day-to-day operational management of the CT& NM Departments.

Qualifications & Educations

Essential criteria
  • HCPC Registration
  • Diploma of the College of Radiographers or BSc in Radiography
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate qualification or equivalent in CT or Nuclear Medicine
  • Master’s degree

Knowledge and Training

Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of attendance of specialty / short courses in CT or NM
  • Evidence of I.V. cannulation training & Competency
  • Involved in governance activities
  • Carried out Research projects

Experience

Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate experience in CT with a varied workload
  • Extensive clinical experience in Nuclear Medicine

Communication & Relationship Skills

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Able to deal/cope with difficult situations calmly and sensitively
