Job overview

Come and join our amazing team, Ward C5 at Russells Hall Hospital Dudley for this exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic respiratory ward/enhanced care setting.

We provide training to nurses to become competent in managing acutely unwell adult patients requiring non-invasive ventilation, chest drains, CPAP, high flow nasal oxygen and tracheostomy care through our in-house training courses once available.

You will also be trained in chronic lung conditions such as COPD, neuromuscular disease, lung cancers, asthma, arterial blood gas interpretation and end of life care.

Ward C5 is a 48 bedded unit divided in to C5a and C5b each having a designated full time lead nurse and more recently having 2 full time clinical lead nurses and 1 full time Professional Development Nurse.

You will work at completing your CCN 1 books which is a recognised national competency.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development and implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

You will be expected to gain a more comprehensive understanding into disease pathophysiology/management and interventions. You will use current research, evidence and guidelines to further your understanding, decision making and help aid autonomous practice within your scope of limitation.

You will be involved in a variety of MDT meetings. You will work alongside physios, respiratory physiologists and consultants.

You will assist with ward reviews and be involved in recommending treatment changes and delivering education.
